Warmth

Dear Bubboo,

You look at me and start crying, your lower lip jutting out, in that typical way of yours.

I figure out that you are sleepy and want a cuddle too.

I pick you up and hold you against me, chest to chest.

You calm down in a bit. You put your tiny arms around my neck. Your body feels tiny and warm against mine.

Slowly, you relax. You snuggle up to me, and find a comfortable spot in the hollow of my neck to place your head.

I begin to hear your little snores.

I squish you a little bit more than is necessary, and drop a tiny kiss on your forehead.

We stay like that for quite some time, till I am sure you are fast asleep and can be laid down on the bed.

As I cover you up with your blanket, you smile in your sleep. It is a beautiful, wide smile, a happy and dreamy one.

It is in moments like these that I understand why all the woes of motherhood are worth undergoing. It is in moments like this that my weary heart rests, and finds a glimpse of peace.

It is difficult to say who has been more comforted by this little interaction: you or me.

Loads of love,
Amma

  1. Hi,

It’s been ever so long since I’ve been on the blogging space and I’m not sure how long I’ll be. But in the interim, I entered your blog only to see this wonderful news. Congratulations to you and your husband! πŸ™‚

I hope motherhood is treating you as well as your words describe. πŸ™‚

  2. Such an awesome feeling…such a sweet post..The good thing is, you can continue to kiss and cuddle them like this for years to come. Here I am counting down to when mine will get fed up of my cuddles and hugs (or as Yukta says, huggles!) πŸ™‚
