One of the little pleasures of life…

… is you telling your husband about your craving for honey cake from the neighbourhood bakery, the husband happily deciding to oblige, running down to the bakery after a late lunch and picking up a couple of the cakes, getting home in perfect time for dessert. πŸ™‚

Bite into the cake, let the mixture of coconut and gooey, sugary cream burst into your mouth, and there – your day is made!

Unexpected bonus – the husband also bringing home a couple of the bakery’s very delicious-looking, very heavenly-smelling, straight-out-from-the-oven aloo buns for evening snacks. πŸ™‚

You haven’t tried honey cake? You must!

Honey cake is a Bangalore specialty.. haven’t seen it anywhere else… it is usually sold in these small old-world bakeries throughout the city like Iyengar’s… I doubt you will find it in a posh, upmarket bakery.

      1. Wow…now my mouth is watering. In fact I only tasted aloo/masala bun some weeks ago..seems like I need to do a culinary exploration of Bangalore bakeries πŸ™‚

Oh, you totally should. There are SO MANY things to try out. In fact, I was amazed by the variety of products these old-world bakeries serve when I was recently researching for an article.

  1. Aww! Isn’t he the sweetest!

And that honey cake! Reminds me that I haven’t had honey cakes since ages.

PS: just the other day, had a ‘karachi’ bakery biscuit brought by a colleague from Bangalore, and remembered the time we first met πŸ™‚
