….. so, why don’t you tell me the names of some of your favourite love stories? š
Which books have left you with the sense of a very real love story, not cringing with the artificial sugary sweetness depicted in it? Which stories have warmed you to the very tips of your toes? Which love stories would you go back to, again and again, whenever the going is tough and you need some sunshine? Which ones have made you go ‘Awwww!’ and made you dream of a similar romance and more?
Tell me, pretty please!
ETA: In case you are interested, my favourites in this genre are Robert James Waller’s Bridges Of Madison County,Ā The Notebook and The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks, and the Bride Quartet series by Nora Roberts. Sensible, mature mush, all of them. š
The Calligrapher’s Daughter by Eugenia Kim. Read this one recently.. and must say it was very touching. There’s a very real love story.. and many love stories in fact, which warmed me up to my toes.. as you put it š

Ah, this is a great post! Oh I love all your favourites except the Bride Quartet since I have not finished it and the book I have read doesn’t match up to the rest. I also fall head over heels with “A love story” by Erich Segal EVERY single time. It was one of my first books and occupies a super special place in my heart.
I also love A walk to remember – by Nicholas Sparks š
Yet, I must add that the other two special additions would be the love Calvin and Hobbes share (there is one strip that makes me weep like crazy!) and ofcourse the K and K love story as well š

Love Story was good, but it didn’t match up to these books for me. š Same with A Walk To Remember.
C&H makes you weep?! How?! I don’t know anyone who has ever said that!! It does make me reflective at times, but weep? No! Those guys are the cutest ever! š
What is the K and K love story? :O

Calvin and Hobbes do make one reflective – but there is one strip where Calvin loses an animal he saved. Then he and Hobbes talk of life and death and then suddenly, Calvin hugs Hobbes and says ” Don’t you ever leave me like that” – Can’t tell you that chord it strikes.

Well, I guess mine will be the most different answer here š
I havent come across a book yet, but have read many, many stories over the period of time in Reader’s Digest editions, newspapers, online forums and blogs which are inspiring love stories. If I am low and want a ‘mush-dose’, I go to that particular blog or search for a story online š
Also, I would admit that some scenes from sitcoms and Hindi serials make me want to visit them again and again, purely for the non-cheesiness š

Hmmm, I know what you mean. I have some real-life stories like that too, on blogs and e-mails, and in the form of newspaper articles. They have touched me and inspired me in more ways than one. š I totally understand about some TV shows, too. Some movies, too. That said, I need a healthy dose of mushy books as well. š

I got to read that book all over again – I have completely forgotten the storyline. š I do remember that I wasn’t so enamoured by the love story in the book – I was more enchanted by the talk of books and writers. š
